The Gottman Method Couples Therapy is a method of marital counseling based on interventions and exercises that have been demonstrated by research to be effective. Couples learn to break through the barriers that reduce their intimacy with each other. It helps improve their understanding, and connection, with each other.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy is a scientifically-based therapy that is structured, and goal-oriented. The intervention strategies are based on Gottman’s three decades of research with more than 3,000 couples. The Gottman Institute in Seattle has demonstrated what actually works to help couples achieve a long-term, and healthy, relationship.
Dr. Hudson has completed Level I Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and may use these skills in marriage counseling to help couples:
• Increase respect, and affection
• resolve conflict
• improve understanding between partners
• keep conflict discussions calm
• maintain improvements in the relationship over the long term
Dr. Hudson is available for marriage therapy, & couples counseling, for physicians and their partners using these and other approaches.
“Identifying what is 'dysfunctional' when a marriage is not going well essentially tells us what is broken and what needs fixing. The goals of marital therapy are based on this knowledge.”
John Gottman from 'The Marriage Clinic' p4, 1999
