They also experience the issues that any couple can experience, such as sexual dysfunction or communication problems. But in addition, they must cope with the stress imposed by the modern practice of medicine.
Marital difficulties often increase career dissatisfaction and burnout. When physicians and their partners are not getting alone, everyone suffers and the result can be devastating.
It is sometimes assumed that physicians long work hours cause marital problems. The truth is that their excessive work is often caused by their desire to esape troubles at home.
Dr. Hudson has special interest in working with physicians, and their spouse or partner. With over almost 40 years experience in medicine and training in mental health counseling he is uniquely qualified to help. He has special certificatino and training in the management of anger in marital and divorce situations
His approach mirrors his general practice of psychotherapy, and uses a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for marital therapy & couple therapy. He has completed Level I Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. His aim is to restore meaning, and purpose, to your relationship. As a physician for nearly 40 years he understands the unique needs of medical doctors and their spouses and partners.
Dr. Hudson does not work with children, nor does he do family therapy.
